Rwanda - animals
Rwanda is a landlocked country a few degrees south of the equator in Central-East Africa. It is the fourth smallest and the most densely populated country in mainland Africa. Rwanda is highly elevated and is often called "the land of a thousand hills". Akagera National Park in the east, bordering Tanzania, is home to the "big five" and other species of wildlife. Much of the world's population of mountain gorillas and golden monkeys, species endemic to the Virunga Mountains, are found in Volcanoes National Park in the northwest, while chimpanzees and other primate species are found in the ancient Nyungwe Forest in the southwest.
